Coca Cola Happiness Islands

Description adverblog

Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam have made this addictive little set of sitelets for Coca Cola called Happiness Islands.
The sitelets like falling dominos, recording record and blowing bubbles do nothing more than create a little fun in your day. Some make use of cameras and mics and you can’t help but want to look at every site on the map. Each sitelet has a little nod to the Coke bottle shape with the odd logo here or there with the overall experience being a nice way for Coca Cola to say ‘happiness’.

Pimkie Color Forecast

Description adverblog

If tomorrow morning you won’t know what to wear, there is now a website that can inspire you. Fashion brand Pimkie has launched a pretty sweet project that helps consumers understand the colors “of the moment” in the major European fashion capitals like Milan, Paris and Antwerpen.

Happiness Brussels has installed high-speed digital cameras in key locations throughout the three cities, the footage is collected and filtered in real-time through a color tracking software that generates infographics detailing which colors are trending where.

Pimkie Color Forecast is a definitely a fun idea, a cool tool to expose consumers to the Pimkie collection. I would say it’s a Uniqlo way to engage consumers with the product. Interesting to note how long it took a fast-fashion brand to start following the Japanese approach to online communication. It’s a just a pity IMHO that Pimkie, with such a great concept, hasn’t tried to create its own visual identity. Those fonts and squares in the interface scream Uniqlo…

Happiness Brussels has also uploaded a video that explains how the magic works.

First agency site on Pinterest

Description adverblog

Holler Sydney has made an innovative move by putting their main agency site on Pinterest. So if you are interested in Holler’s work, people and ethos, look no further than the world’s favourite place to tap, pin, browse and scroll.
Holler’s founder, CEO and (excuse the pun) kingpin Mike Hill explains their motivation for setting up a new home: “In true Holler Fashion, to get a better understanding of Pinterest (and to look at pretty pictures) we wanted to see whether we can make it work for ourselves. And then pass on key learnings to our clients.”
Unfortunately, they don’t yet have a shop for buying one of their cute ladybirds.

Google Memories for the Future

DEscription theinspirationroom

Google’s Memories for the Future (Mirai e no kioku) site has been awarded the Grande Innova Lotus at Adfest this week. The site, miraikioku.com, was designed to help people rediscover lost memories of their homes and towns in the wake of the March 11 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Many people lost their lives, their homes, and all their precious memories collected over generations. Among the things lost were precious photos and videos — cherished images of family, friends, pets and once-in-a-lifetime events, buried in rubble or washed to sea. The site helps share their photographs and videos, and provides thousands of miles of Street View imagery in the affect areas, collected before and after the disaster. Seeing the street-level imagery of the affected areas puts the plight of these communities into perspective and ensures that the memories of the disaster remain relevant and tangible for future generations.

No big revelations, but it’s definitely a good reference (as usual) to sound smart and up to date during your presentation to the clients   BTW we recently started “playing” with Pinterest ourselves. You can check out Adverblog’s pinboards here.

Wrangler drag & release

Description adverblog

Wrangler did it again. The new website to showcase the Spring/Summer collection doesn’t disappoint nor gets boring. Like in a movie sequel it’s not easy to repeat success in the digital age, especially when it comes to a website experience. Interactivity is pretty minimal but the drag & release trick proves pretty fun to trigger the storytelling.

I know, I know, you might argue why should a brand still spend money on making an interactive website. Well, for the same reason they still spend it on TV advertising… It’s for healthy branding reasons but also, simply, to show the product in a cool way. Campaign websites & mini-sites might be on their way to extinction, but for most of brands (and digital agencies) there is still life beyond social media.

This is a Twitter visualization tool with a modern twist. The site created for CNN in advance of the COP17 Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa, utilizes the WebGL capabilities of modern browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Safari to create a globe populated with trees that grow in realtime. Every tweet tagged with hashtag #COP17 will stimulate growth in a plant or tree in the Ecosphere that represents a certain topic, such as sustainability.

The Ecosphere constantly listens to the global conversation on Twitter. Every new tweet tagged with hashtag #COP17 is brought into the environment, scanned for keywords and then grouped with similar contributions, connecting input from around the world, and building conversations within the dynamic environment.

Sagres Preta, website made of chocolate

Description koikoikoi

An amazing project by Grand Union, a full service digital agency Established in London, with offices in Portugal, France, Spain, Germany, Italy and New York.
“A site made out of chocolate. Sagres is Portugal’s no 1 beer brand.
This fall it launched Sagres Preta Chocolate, a stout beer with a chocolate flavour. What is more suited to launch it than on a site made entirely out of chocolate? We did just that. With the help of Maître Chocolatier Victor Nunes, renown in Portugal for his sculpture made out of chocolate, we designed and produced an interactive site made 100% out of chocolate.
Enjoy and don’t forget to watch the Baking Of”
