Trench Trip, short movie for fashionistas

A collection lookbook transformed into a short movie. Not a new idea, for sure. But I haven’t seen many fashion brands being able to create something as lovely as Trench Trip by Japanese brand United Arrows.

Below I’ve embedded the 30 seconds trailer, but I strongly encourage you to visit the movie website and immerse yourself in the 2 minutes short movie. A love story narrated with a touch of magic and a superb soundtrack. All collection items worn by the protagonist are presented in the closing titles as if they were actors in the movie. Of course each style is clickable and take you to the online store for immediate purchase.

Kogonada is a genius. His latest work is dedicated to Quentin Tarantino: a video remix collecting shots looking up at characters in the films of the Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Bastards director. It’s not original content, but it’s definitely an original idea, super well produced and absolutely entertaining to watch, for Tarantino’s fans and not only.

And if you enjoy the genre, Kogonada has more to offer. A collection of shots from above in Wes Anderson movies and, my personal favorite, a mix of point of views from shots from inanimate objects in Breaking Bad. I definitely look forward to his next video mix!!!

Crowd funding is pretty hot right now, but it doesn’t always work, even through the major social funding platforms. So, when Eddie Terstall (a famous Dutch film-maker) only managed to reach $2k of the $20k he teamed up with One Big Agency to try something just a little different…

So they created Twitflicks. Mini-Movies that would be posted to your Facebook wall, based of the ideas you tweeted. For every $10 you donated, Eddie would create a 10 second movie. $60 gets you a 1 minute mini-movie to share with your friends and so on…

Would it work? Well, just a few weeks and a tonne of media coverage later, Eddie raised $120k and turned his short film into a feature length thanks to all the donations! Very very cool idea.

Roman Polanski‘s latest feature Carnage depicts two couples having a formal meeting about a bullying incident involving their respective sons. ‘Magic for Beginners examines the mythologies found in fan culture, from longing to obsession to psychic connections. The need for such connections (whether real or imaginary) as well as the need for an emotional release that only fantasy can deliver are explored.’

The movie is part of the ‘Magic for Beginners’ exhibition at P.O.W.W. Gallery in Chelsea New York, that runs till the 27th of August.
