Rugbeer: Tackle The Vending Machine

Description digitalbuzz

Here’s a great installation from Argentinean beer brand ‘Cerveza Salta’. Argentina is a country renowned for having the most football fans in the world, but in the Northern Salta province, the New Zealand equivalent of Argentina, people love rugby. Salta Beer wanted to create a campaign that targeted this rugby loving region and what better way to engage them than creating a tackle machine and placing it in bars!

‘Rugbeer’ also just happens to be a tackle machine with a difference, it’s actually a vending machine, that challenges rugby fans tackle it in order to release a cold Salta Beer. Rugbeer was so successful that it toured the region, leading to 25% more beers sales in the bars that it visited. What a great way to create engagement.

Duvel Collection Design Competition

Bringing together contemporary art and an iconic beer vessel

Description coolhunting

As part of a new competition, Duvel invited graphic artists from around the world to customize beer goblets with their work. The winning entry will become part of the Duvel Collection and will be available through their shop for enthusiasts. Building on more than a century of brewing experience, the collaboration with contemporary graphic artists puts a modern veneer on a classic object.

Duvel, a long-time supporter of contemporary art museums, started the collection in an effort to bring the company’s interest in design to the forefront. The first came from Belgian artist Arne Quinze in 2007, after which the company enlisted artists Denis Meyers, Parra, and Eley Kishimoto. The next installment once again featured Quinze, along with Daan Stuyven and Stefan Glerum. Released this year, the current series sells from the Duvel shop.

Past designs have included a futurist-inspired banner complete with Dutch orange from Netherlands native Stefan Glerum, while Daan Stuyven opted for a selection of mug shot-style self-portraits around the glass, and Quinze, a conceptual artist known for massive linear structures, kept his design simple and abstract.

VIDEO

This year’s competition is open to artists from Belgium, The Netherlands, England and France. Interested parties can check out the Duvel Collection site to view past work. The winner’s glass will be added to the collection, and three people from each country will be chosen for the second-place prize, which includes a trip to Paris and 50 glasses of their own design. Third-place winners (10 per country) will receive six glasses with their design. Find out more by watching the video.

Sagres Preta, website made of chocolate

Description koikoikoi

An amazing project by Grand Union, a full service digital agency Established in London, with offices in Portugal, France, Spain, Germany, Italy and New York.
“A site made out of chocolate. Sagres is Portugal’s no 1 beer brand.
This fall it launched Sagres Preta Chocolate, a stout beer with a chocolate flavour. What is more suited to launch it than on a site made entirely out of chocolate? We did just that. With the help of Maître Chocolatier Victor Nunes, renown in Portugal for his sculpture made out of chocolate, we designed and produced an interactive site made 100% out of chocolate.
Enjoy and don’t forget to watch the Baking Of”

Newcastle Brown Ale: Trapped In A Schooner

Description youtube

This year at San Diego’s Del Mar Racetrack, Newcastle Brown Ale launched a larger than life 3D installation that lets people get “Trapped” inside a pint of Newcastle. Three pieces, 8 feet high, placed at the entrance of the track to trick the eye into seeing a single three-dimensional Geordie Schooner (the glass that Newcastle was traditionally served in). It’s an optical illusion that creates the perfect photo op for Newcastle fans.
